Waitrose refurbishes five stores and integrates services for online shoppers

Integrated property services and project delivery specialist Styles&Wood has completed a £250,000 refurbishment scheme to refresh five Waitrose stores across the UK.

Styles&Wood secured the contract after winning a place on the retailer’s Front of Store framework in July 2013. The completed projects have been designed to enhance the in-store experience for customers and integrate new services for online shoppers.

Styles&Wood took on full project management for the refurbishments at the stores in Otley, Bury St. Edmunds, Chandlers Ford, Brackley and Great Malvern, working closely with Waitrose incumbent suppliers and its own supply chain.

The works included the installation of improved customer service desks, featuring click and collect points and iPad stations for online shoppers, alongside new self-service tills, entrance displays and seating areas.

Andy Shaw, Operations Director at Styles&Wood, said: “With more and more customers using stores as collection points for online orders, the role of the supermarket is changing. These projects demonstrate how Waitrose is taking a creative approach to adapting its in-store offering to provide greater convenience for shoppers.”

“Our roots lie in the retail market and our teams’ expertise means we’re well placed to continue to support leading brands as they adapt their property estates to keep pace with market trends.”
